Presence

Presence is defined as the state or fact of existing, occurring, or being present in a place or thing. You may see or hear things about the importance of presence and people wanting to be more present in life. Distractions occur frequently in our day to day and it can be hard to be in the moment, however in the moment is where quality time rests and where memories are made. Each time we shift our attention that takes away from our mental energy, but it also pulls us away from presence. Within emotional health - any time we feel anger, frustration, depression - we are being stuck in the past and not present, and any time we are worried or anxious - we are being stuck in the future and not present. It is really good for ourselves and our relationships to make an effort to be in the present moment as much as we can. We do go in and out of presence all day long, but let's look at how to slow down and enjoy more presence in our day to day.

*Do one thing at a time

*Focus on your breath

*Practice mindfulness in all you do

*Take notice of your surroundings

*Take a break from technology / social media

*Exercise

*Practice Meditation / Yoga

*Allow for things to unfold

*Accept things as they are

*Lean into Gratitude

*Have positive / supportive people in your life

*Grounding exercises

*Set a daily intention for where you want your energy/ focus to go

These are some tips above to help one slow down/ increase being in the moment more. Benefits of this can include feeling a sense of calm yourself and also more of a sense of connection to others and to the universe. It is an amazing feeling when you slow down, take a breath, focus on 1 thing at a time, and allow for the day to unfold as it is. Try not to judge yourself if it is difficult to feel present in things, simply refocus on your breath and awareness is key and the first step. Start by sitting in stillness for 3 minutes a day and when your mind wanders- focus on your breath.

Enjoy, and may you find some moments of presence this week. Reach out or comment below with any thoughts or questions,

Be Beyond Well, Jen
